It all began with one piece of property, Pottawatomie Park, one of St. Charles' most recognizable landmarks. Used originally as a campsite by the Pottawatomi Indians, the land has evolved into a favorite gathering spot for all ages to enjoy picnics, events and recreation activities. Today, Pottawatomie Park continues to attract tens of thousands of visitors who enjoy several of the park's original recreation amenities.

The mission of the St. Charles Park District is to enrich the quality of life of Park District residents through excellence in programs, parks, facilities and services. Attractions include the Pottawatomie Community Center, Pottawatomie Golf Course, Swanson Pool, River View Miniature Golf Course, STC Underground Teen Center, Primrose Farm, Otter Cove Aquatic Center and Hickory Knolls Discovery Center.
